Kate's Bellybutton Lint Collection

I used to think blogs were self-indulgent navel gazing, but now I'm not so sure. From a practical standpoint, they're great for keeping up with friends, especially when you're awful about keeping in touch (like me). I know most people could probably care less what I think or do in a given week. For everyone else, this blog's for you! Enjoy my collection of hand-picked navel lint!

Lighthouses and Beer

Are you fond of lighthouses? Does your heart skip a beat whenever you see their cheerful beacons? Well then, you should visit Maine! We did just that this holiday season (my mom lives there). If the number of lighthouses is any indication, Maine probably has one of the most dangerous coastlines in the country. You can spend a whole day touring them in Portland alone (which we did). Naturally, one works up a thirst chasing down the wily critters, but luckily the area we were in ALSO had an excess of nifty pubs with names like Federal Jack's, Ri-Ra, Gritty McDuff's, and SmuttyNose. I quickly found out that my mom can put back a lot of beer (see pictures)! Maine also does great clam chowder, by the way.

Greetings, Rob Zinzen!

I must apologize for not keeping up the blog lately. Don't worry--this is not a failed experiment... yet! My lack of posts can be attributed to Blizzard Entertainment, creators of Warcraft III, the most addictive game on my computer right now. Complain to them! Anyway, my labmate Rob has been pestering me about the lack of recent posts, so this entry is for him. Hello Rob!! I will return to the blog-o-sphere soon with our Halloween party pictures (it was a blast, thank you all who came), and then pics of our Christmas trip to Maine. I'm also considering starting a beer blog where Scott and I can post our recipes and other forays into the wonderful world of fermentation. Cheers!
